Linda's Lymphoma update 8-20-11

Home on hospice....

The battle is almost over. She put up a heroic fight against long odds and incredible pain.

Linda's left leg also become paralyzed the last few days indicating the tumor was advancing aggressively in the left side of her pelvis as well.

With both legs paralyzed and her being unable to even sit up, the transplant was no longer an option.

We all decided last night and this morning to go on hospice for the few days she might have left.

Linda wished to die in the house she loved and the loving home she made for us.

Fortunately, hospice was able to get everything in place and she will be home this evening.

The hospice nurse said she might last a few days, but at this stage I just don't know.

Thanks for all your prayers and help that assisted us through this journey.

  2. My dear, dear friend. My heart is breaking. I hoped this post would never happen. I love you. I know you've made this decision prayerfully and thoughtfully. You fought long and hard. May you finally have peace.

  3. Linda, one of my fondest memories of you is when the book club read Atlas Shrugged. You had so many different size/colors of post-it-notes that marked themes, characters, etc, in the book. We laughed and laughed about it. One more post-it would not have fit on the page edges of the book! What a fighter you are...you brought much joy and laughter to the book club...love, Janie

  5. It was such a pleasure to work with you, Linda, in Stephen Ministry. Never has there been a more caring, loving, nurturing spirit than yours. The lives you have touched at church, in your neighborhood, and in the community are numerous. Yours has been a life well lived.

David, what a wonderful husband and father you have been. Your strength and perseverance have been inspirational to us all. You and Linda have been a dynamic duo for many years - certainly role models for your children and your friends. Your family remains in our hearts and prayers during this difficult time.
    With love, Mike and Connie

  6. Hi Dave, Linda, Chantal

If Linda could see this it would be great. I sent it to my Dad via email and I thought I'd post it here too. Linda I'll take Lily for a spectacular French Toast breakfast one and tell her about grandma's wonderful friend. Thank-you for being my mother's confidant & BFF, before there was such a thing. We love you. My mom will be there soon. K.

  10. Linda, I will always treasure your friendship and our last visits in the hospital. You are a strong, courageous, spiritual woman and wonderful role model in life and at life's end. We are traveling and unable to be with you and your family at this time. Know that our prayers are with you.

Dave, You, too are courageous, strong, and spiritual. God and your friends will be here for you now and later.
